+++ (3/1/79) <br /> <br />and completion of the Redondo Plaza Redevelopment Project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Rodney A. Nielsen has been largely responsible for <br />the development of a comprehensive storm drainage and flood control <br />system in the northern portions of Redondo Beach; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Rodney A. Nielsen has been an ardent promoter of <br />traffic safety and traffic control in North Redondo, leading <br />considerable support to the augmentation of law enforcement efforts, <br />traffic signalization~ and major street improvement projects such <br />as the widening of Inglewood Avenue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Rodney A. Nielsen has played a key role in the <br />development and continuing refinement of the City's General Plan <br />and Zoning Ordinance; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Rodney A. Nielsen has been a strong advocate of <br />human service programs, lending his support to the provision of <br />temporary interim senior citizen meeting facilities at Glenn M. <br />Anderson Park, the development of senior citizen housing within the <br />community, the establishment of a paramedic program~ and many others; <br />and <br /> <br /> WH~P~EAS, Rodney A. Nielsen's 14 years of public service as <br />City Councilman from District 5 have exemplified the highest ideals of <br />citizenship and comm~nity participation, and strengthened the concept <br />of local self-governance; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, because of charter imposed term limitations, Rodney A. <br />Nielsen must reluctantly step down from his seat as City Councilman <br />from District 5 on March 31, 1979; <br /> <br /> NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of <br />the City of Redondo Beach, California, on behalf of the citizens of <br />said city, that Rodney A. Nielsen is hereby commended for his out- <br />standing and dedicated public ser¥ice to the people of Redondo Beach. <br /> <br />The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of <br />this resolution, shall enter the same in the Book of Resolutions of <br /> <br /> -2- <br /> <br /> <br />
